Notice of Annual Election Berne Fire District and Knox, New York On December 10, 2024 NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Annual Election of the Berne Fire District will take place on December 10, 2024, between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. at the Berne Fire House located at 30 Canaday Hill Road, Berne, New York, for the purpose of the following: electing one Commissioner for a five (5) year term commencing January 1, 2025 and ending December 31, 2030. Candidate petitions are required and can be obtained from the Secretary of the Berne Fire District. All voters registered with the Albany County Board of Elections on or before November 18, 2024, shall be eligible to vote. Absentee ballot applications may be obtained from the Secretary of the Berne Fire District. Please call Manuel Mosbey at 518-872-0847 to obtain an application for an absentee ballot. If the absentee ballot application is to be mailed, applications requests are due to the Secretary on or before December 3, 2024. Applications for absentee ballots to be delivered personally are due to the Secretary on or before December 10, 2024.

BEGINNING NOVEMBER 2, 2024 THERE WILL BE A $25.00 FEE FOR ANY SIZE MATTRESS BROUGHT TO THE TRANSFER STATION AS WELL AS A $5.00 FEE FOR CAR TIRES (an increase of $2/tire). WE APOLOGIZE FOR THE CHANGES, BUT THESE FEES HAVE BEEN PASSED ON TO US FROM THE ALBANY LANDFILL. WE THANK ALL OF YOU FOR YOUR UNDERSTANDING AND COOPERATION WITH THESE CHANGES.

Click the picture to go to the Hometown Hero application. Hometown Hero banner applications are accepted throughout the year. The deadline for new banners is April 30th, to allow time to process the information and have the banner made in time to be hung by Memorial Day. Banners are taken down shortly before Veteran's Day in November, and a ceremony is held shortly after for new banner recipients to be dedicated back to their families.
